Camp Newaygo hires dynamic individuals who are willing to learn and grow. Fun and challenges are blended together for an active, adventurous summer. Camp Newaygo staff receives invaluable and rewarding experience working with campers during girls’ resident camp, boys and girls day camp, or parent and child weekends.

Camp Newaygo seeks mature, responsible people with camp experience who enjoy being outdoors, have a commitment to working with children, and who are dedicated and energetic. These qualities in a staff are required since camping experiences are a means toward a camper’s development.

SENIOR COUNSELOR

  • Responsible for a cabin or unit group of campers 
  • Assisted by a general or junior counselor
  • Leadership ability, camp experience, and a variety of skills desired
  • Teach classes and serve as leader in program area

GENERAL COUNSELOR

  • Responsible for cabin or unit group of campers
  • Assist Senior Counselor with a cabin or unit group of campers
  • Teach classes and serve as a leader in program activities
  • Leadership ability and a variety of skills desired

JUNIOR COUNSELOR

  • High school graduate (at least 18 years of age) beginning their camp staff experience

  • Leadership potential and a variety of skills desired

UNIT DIRECTOR

  • Responsible for a unit group of campers
  • Coordinate unit activities and assist in trip planning
  • Strong leadership skills, the ability to teach and supervise children and teenagers, and wilderness trip experience necessary

WATERFRONT DIRECTOR

  • Previous aquatic experience, current WSI and LGT certifications, leadership and supervisory experience required. Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Responsible for Camp’s aquatic programs

ASSISTANT WATERFRONT DIRECTOR

  • Current WSI and LGT certifications and leadership ability required
  • Assist the Waterfront Director in supervising, planning, and implementing Camp’s aquatic programs
  • Responsible for a cabin or unit group of campers

PROGRAM AREA SPECIALIST

  • Responsible for cabin or unit group of campers and one of the following program areas: arts and crafts, nature, land sports, or wilderness trips
  • Leadership ability and strong skills in the selected program area necessary
  • Supervisory experience and program planning ability desired

BUSINESS MANAGER

  • Responsible for office management and the camp store
  • Must be organized and responsible
  • Business knowledge and office skills desired

HEALTH OFFICER

  • Responsible for health care and service at Camp including administering medications, providing emergency care, and maintaining health records
  • Requires current certifications and licenses

FOOD SERVICE DIRECTOR

  • Responsible for providing and managing food service operations including food orders, menu planning, and meal preparation
  • Previous food service experience desired

FOOD SERVICE ASSISTANTS

  • Responsible for assisting the food service director in various aspects of the food service at camp
  • Specific job responsibilities will center around providing meals for groups of 30 to 150 people and assisting with food preparation and clean up

LIT Director

Join the team at NCCS Camp Newaygo and direct our Leaders In Training program.  NCCS Camp Newaygo conducts a summer resident camp for girls age 7 to 17 and is celebrating 80 years of providing positive youth development. The LIT Director will be responsible to oversee all facets of this program and work directly with 17 and 18 year old women to prepare them for a staff position at camp.
